Exhibition Opening: Como Veo Cuba/ As I See Cuba
13:00 – 15:00 Trongate 103
Photography exhibition celebrating 500 years of Havana, from the personal perspectives of Roberto Chile (Havana) and Dougie Souness (Glasgow).
Roberto Chile is an acclaimed filmmaker and photographer from Havana. He was the personal cameraman of Fidel Castro for 12 years, accompanying the leader of the Cuban revolution in his travels around Cuba and the world. His exhibition Fidel is Fidel has been shown worldwide.
“Chile has managed to forge a singular, always dignified and luminous image of Cuba. (His) pictures make up a universe of faith and spirituality, perceptible to those who, like him, are capable of loving.” Eusebio Leal Spengler, Cuban historian.
Dougie Souness is a Glasgow-based photographer, who, on several journeys to Cuba, has captured the people, infrastructure, landscapes and underwater wildlife of the island. Well known for running his artist management company No Half Measures, his photography has featured in music releases and publications and his underwater photography on front cover magazine spreads.
Exhibition runs until 30th November, Tues-Sat.
