International school screening event – Glasgow/Valencia/Cuba
HGFF teams up with Glasgow Valencia Erasmus Plus and British Council Cuba’s ‘Camera Chica’ project for this very special International schools event.
Havana Glasgow Film Festival Special International Pre Festival Event.
Friday 2nd November 1pm – 3pm CCA Glasgow (Centre for Contemporary Art) Theatre
HGFF teams up with British Council Cuba’s ‘Camera Chica’ project and Glasgow Valencia Erasmus Plus for this very special International schools event.
We are thrilled that both groups will be present to introduce their films and tell us about these inspiring projects. These screenings will mark the beginning of an exciting ongoing filmmaking collaboration between young people in Glasgow Valencia and Cuba which will culminate in joint screenings next year in Cuba.
These films are made entirely by the young filmmakers themselves and tell their own stories. We will also have a special screening of the locally made film ‘Govan Young’ which is very much in the spirit of what our event is about, young people learning about their local history and taking a new pride in their surroundings.
With Glasgow schools and local film makers invited, the event will help to promote the benefits of Erasmus Plus partnerships with schools in Spain and Spanish speaking countries and encourage filmmaking to become an important part of international school partnerships, in particular between Glasgow and Havana. Present at the event will be the Director of HGFF, Glasgow City Council, British Council Scotland and other dignitaries, plus press. The event will be filmed for future promotion of this new exciting venture.
